Heirloom is the tier for families who understand that the difference between an adhesive binding and a Smyth Sewn binding is not a marketing distinction. It is the difference between pages held by glue and pages sewn in, section by section.
A cover and pages designed by you, around this story. 150gsm paper. A hardback in the colours you choose, with a ribbon marker and endpapers to match. Every feature Chronicle offers is here – the difference is the craft of the book itself.

Not sure Heirloom is right?
The difference between Memoir and Heirloom →Questions on Heirloom.
What does Smyth Sewn binding actually mean?
Pages are sewn together with thread in folded groups called signatures, then bound to a hard cover. The result opens easily, stays open as you read, and doesn’t crack at the spine with use. It is the traditional way to bind a book meant to be handed down.
What makes Heirloom different from Memoir?
Every software feature is the same on both – the guided conversations, voice sessions and custom design. Heirloom is about the book itself: a Smyth Sewn binding rather than casebound, 150gsm paper rather than 130gsm, a ribbon marker, head and tail bands and endpapers in a colour you choose, plus priority support. It is the finest edition we make.
What does the design include?
You design the book yourself, and see exactly what will print. The cover – templates, colours, title and a photograph if you’d like one. The chapter openings, fonts and type size. Your photos are placed through the chapters for you, and on Heirloom you choose the ribbon, the head and tail bands and the endpaper colour.
What happens once the chapters are done?
Once every chapter is approved and the design is finished, you place the print order. The book is printed and Smyth Sewn in the UK, then posted to the address you give us. We email you when the order is confirmed, and again with tracking when it’s on its way.
